Instructor certification

Hint

The certification of the qualification as a course instructor is part of the course provider certification.
It alone is not sufficient for participants in your courses to be able to claim contributions towards the course costs from the health insurance companies. Certification as a course provider is also required for this.

Procedure

A distinction is made between initial certification and re-certification. The initial certification is valid until the end of the specified two-year certification period, while each re-certification extends the validity by a further two years.

Submit your application

Please study the qualification criteria for certification in the relevant method carefully.

Register as a course instructor for certification by completing the application form online and submitting it with all the necessary proof of training (diplomas, certificates, references, confirmation of attendance).

Checking the basic requirements

As soon as your documents have been submitted in full and the fee has been paid, QualiCert will carefully check your details, evidence and documents.

If you are fully compliant, the basic requirements are met and you will be certified as a course instructor.
If there are any open points, you will receive specific advice on which corrections or additions are still necessary to achieve conformity.

Step 3

Finalisation & confirmation

Following a successful examination, you will receive confirmation of the certification of your qualification in the relevant area. The initial certification is valid until 31 December of the current two-year validity period.

Verify information

In accordance with the requirements of the audited normative document, a random sample of persons with certified qualifications is selected. This takes place at the end of each two-year validity period. The selected persons are requested to submit evidence of further training completed during the years of the validity period.

Evaluation

Once QualiCert has received the proof of further training and payment of the recertification fee, it will check your documents and inform you in writing whether your application has been successfully certified or rejected.

Step 3

Certification confirmation

Following a successful examination, you will receive confirmation of the certification of your qualification in the relevant area. The re-certification is valid for two calendar years.

Staff must fulfil clearly defined quality criteria in order to be successfully certified by QualiCert. The criteria are different for the various health-effective methods. You can find the criteria for your method in the relevant subject area.

Certification runs in fixed two-year periods (e.g. 2025-2026, 2027-2028, 2029-2030, etc.). The fees for initial certification and re-certification also differ for the certification of personnel qualifications.

The fees always relate to the validity of the initial certification until the end of the current two-year validity period. They consist of a one-off basic fee and depend on the time of application and the number of certification areas:

Note

For certification of a qualification for the current calendar year up to the end of the current two-year validity period, the application must be received by QualiCert by 30 November at the latest. For applications received by QualiCert in December, certification is only possible for the following year until the end of the current two-year validity period.

The fees for the two-year recertification depend on the number of areas you wish to recertify and are listed in the table below.

Questions and answers

When is a course recognised?

A course is deemed to be recognised if both the qualification of the course leader and the certification of the provider are available.

In concrete terms, this means

The course leader has a valid certification as a course instructor.
The course provider is recognised as a provider by the relevant certification body.

Only if both requirements are met can participants claim contributions towards the course costs from their health insurance provider.

Which further training courses can I attend for re-certification as a course instructor?

The further training does not necessarily have to be subject-specific - topics relating to prevention such as exercise, nutrition, relaxation or prevention concepts are also valid.

However, BLS CPR training or further training courses and courses aimed at end consumers are not recognised. It is important that the further training is offered by an institution whose core business is professional training and further training.

The detailed requirements for further training courses are set out in the further training regulations. You will automatically receive these with every initial or re-certification.

Do I have to send in my training certificates on an ongoing basis?

No. You do not have to send in your training certificates on an ongoing basis. QualiCert will check them collectively as part of your re-certification.

What happens to the initial certification fee if I do not fulfil the requirements as a course provider and instructor?

The initial certification fee primarily covers the work involved in checking your documents and qualifications. These services also apply if certification cannot be granted.

When do I no longer have to provide proof of further training for recertification?

Persons who have reached the age of 60 before 1 January of the period of validity for which re-certification is requested are exempt from the continuing education requirement.

However, QualiCert recommends that you continue to attend further training courses voluntarily even after reaching this age limit. In this way, you can stay up to date professionally and ensure the quality of your services in the long term.

Can a certification be rejected despite fulfilling the criteria?

Yes, QualiCert reserves the right to reject an initial or re-certification even if the formal requirements and criteria are met. This applies in particular if there are indications that applicants do not offer a guarantee of irreproachable professional practice.
