To obtain a valid certification as a fitness center operator, you must first complete the initial certification process.
Following successful initial certification, QualiCert conducts an annual re-certification. If all requirements are met, your certification will be extended for another year.

The initial certification process comprises five steps and usually takes two to three months. The process can be cancelled after each step.

There are two certification types – each with its own fee structure:
The fee for the one-off initial certification is CHF 1,500 (excl. VAT, incl. ZSR number).
The fee for annual recertification depends on the size category of your studio:

A ZSR number is the registration number in the official payment register (Zahlstellenregister) of the Swiss healthcare system. You need this number so that your customers can claim prevention contributions on their membership or course costs from their health insurers.
The number is issued by santéservices ag (formerly SASIS AG), the service organisation of the Swiss health insurers. In the fitness, movement and prevention sector (VVG), the ZSR number cannot be applied for directly – it is tied to a valid certification and is obtained exclusively through your certification body (see "Can I apply for the ZSR number myself?"). A one-off fee is charged for the issuing.

The process is quick if your fitness studio or fitness centre has already documented its operating documents well - for example, emergency and safety concepts or evidence of employees. As soon as the audit has been completed and any outstanding issues from the on-site evaluation have been resolved, you will usually receive your certificate within 2 weeks.

The annual recertification fee depends on the size of your business. The categorisation is based on objective criteria and is clearly defined as part of the certification process.

The initial certification fee is divided into three stages (CHF 100, CHF 750 and CHF 650). Depending on how far the process has progressed, only the instalments paid up to that point will be charged.
A complete certification procedure can therefore not be cancelled free of charge - but you will never lose the entire amount at once.

A separate training station is a training device or training area on which a person can perform strength or endurance training. Dumbbells or barbells are not counted.
